Here are some questions our customers ask most frequently along with the answers.

Q: How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

A: Remember – Dirt is the enemy! It is an abrasive like sandpaper and every time you walk on the carpet, you grind dirt into your carpet fibers causing it to wear out faster. While frequent vacuuming does help, it’s simply not enough. You should have your carpets professionally cleaned at least every 12 months for the average home – every 6 months if you have children and pets.

Q: Why isn’t vacuuming enough to get my carpets clean?

A: As you probably know, outdoor air contains pollens, fungus, bacteria, and unhealthy airborne chemicals. When you and your family members come into your home, you carry these things in you hair and on your skin, clothing and shoes. Believe it or not, they wind up in your carpet!
If you or someone in your household has allergies, asthma, emphysema, or other breathing problems, a major source of your problem could be the pollens, fungus, and chemicals in your carpet.  A professional carpet cleaning will remove these harmful things from your carpet and promote a healthier indoor environment for your whole family.

Q: What do you think is the best method of carpet cleaning?

A: Shaw Industries, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer recommends hot water extraction which is done by truck mount extraction. The truck mount extraction cleans much better because it heats the water to a higher temperature and shoots the cleaning solution into the carpet at a higher pressure, which breaks up the dirt, bacteria and pollens. Then the machine uses high suction to draw the dirt out of the carpet.

It’s the only method that thoroughly cleans your carpet of dirt, harmful bacteria, fungus, chemicals, pollens and tobacco residue. Methods that use cold and even warm water (IE: Rug Doctor, Bissell) remove dirt, but are not as effective as the hot water truck mount method. Some people believe that hot water damages your carpet, but this isn’t true. By washing and then rinsing your carpet with hot water, we clean your carpet completely.

Q: How do you price a job?

A: We can usually quote you a price over the phone or by e-mail if you give us an accurate description of what you want cleaned.  We price by the area – for example; a living room, 3 bedrooms, hallway and 1 set of stairs = 6 areas. The price may also be influenced by the travel time it will take us to reach your home or if you require our services on a Sunday or holiday. You should also know that carpet cleaning is not taxable, but repairs to carpet are.

Q: What about those signs that advertise “Whole house carpet cleaning $99”?

A: This is a prime example of “you get what you pay for”.  Unfortunately, the industry is filled with cleaners who will cut corners to make a buck – they don’t care about the result or your satisfaction.  Carpet Care Northwest promises you will get what you pay for with us – the cleanest carpet possible!

Another scheme attached to this type of advertisement is the “upsell”.  The $99 price tag gets the cleaner in your house – then they try to sell you more products and services than you truly need, thus increasing the price. Our technicians will never try to “upsell” you or to sell you something you don’t need.  We pride ourselves on honesty and an excellent job.
